Paradise in Western Ghats – Green Route

It was an unusual Friday for five of our guys. It started with little tension & lot of excitement. We all were longing for the big day and finally the day has come. On that day night we are planning to leave for one of most beautiful trekking spot in Western Ghats...Green Route. Our plan is to assemble in the evening at one of our friend’s house near Majestic. Run thru’ a final check list, finish dinner and then proceed to Majestic bus terminal before catching the Bus to Sakleshpura. Eventually the plan is to hit Donigal as early as possible on Saturday morning before catch up with the Golden tracks of Green Route.

Though few of our friends have already trekked there, it all looked fresh on everyone’s body language…that’s the sprit… that’s the frequency match in our whole team, which always steered our group to venture out yet untouched places in Western Ghats. We spent most of the Friday’s day time in getting our packages straight. There was an excellent coordination for two weeks. As soon as we decided the place for hike, everyone of us stepped in & volunteered for few tasks. Once our spreadsheet was ready and circulated, guys jumped into their respective tasks and started pushing things around. Everyone was literally on the wheels for the last one week at least. It was little hectic schedule as we have to manage our professional job and also simultaneously to work on assigned task for trekking day. We all enjoyed that pressure indeed. It all went smooth and on each day prior to that Friday we had small conference call with everyone to make sure we all on the same page.

As per our plan everyone started assemble at friend’s house on Friday evening. Some of the guys who suppose to get Jute Bags items didn’t show up for long time, we waited for few minutes before rang up them. As expected, one of our friend told his famous dialogue on the phone “Macha, innum 15 minutes la ange irrupen, got struck in traffic jam da”. Called the second guy, with lot of background noise from the road traffic, he almost shouted on the phone, “Innu 10 minutes Aguthe Kano; I am almost near to your house”. Finally my friend closed the call with regular punch dialogue “Bega banni, time aguthe”. I clearly could able to see the fun mood gaining a momentum on everyone’s face over there.

Finally everyone got their assigned items, unpacked and again organized to scatter the weight evenly across each bags. Flash lights, Food Items, Snacks, Water, Gas Stove, Lighters, Sleeping Matt, Medicines, Jute Bags , etc., were arranged perfectly to fit into everyone’s bag. It’s been decided to rotate the bags which has Stove and other heavy items so that people can push their back to rest for sometime :-). After the packing show, we headed to finish our dinner which was prepared by friend’s Mom. It was delicious and we all knew that we are going to miss such a food for next couple of days until we back to home. Finally we run thru’ quick check list and stepped out of the house. As soon as we step out of the house, all the street dogs started looking at us and suddenly started barking in high pitch. It’s really high decibel cores they produced thru’ out the street until we reached the corner of the street to jump into auto rickshaw. In 15 minutes, we reached Majestic bus terminal and the sakleshpura bus waiting for us. We walked in to the counter to validate and confirm our seats. After all formalities we moved our back packs into bus shelves and seated comfortably. In 10 minutes, bus operator started the bus and it started crawling backwards before he made a U- turn towards the bus station exit. Once the bus was on the main road, it started picking up the speed slowly, everyone of us closed our eyes to catch up with little sleep.
